What to Expect from Your First Visit to Our Brampton Dental Office

Back to Blog

At Gardenbrooke Dental in Brampton, we welcome new patients of all ages and make every dental visit positive and comfortable, whether you are coming in for yourself or your child. Our practice serves Brampton, Northeast Brampton, Gardenbrooke, Castlemore, The Gore Road area, Gore Meadows, Claireville, and the Woodbridge border area, with a convenient location on Gardenbrooke Trail.

What Should You Bring to Your First Visit?

Before your first visit, please bring your insurance card and benefit booklet (if you have them), a list of your current medications, and your health history information. If you have recent dental X-rays from another dentist, we encourage you to have your previous dentist send them to us ahead of time. Arriving a few minutes early for your first appointment helps you complete any necessary paperwork, or you can complete these forms online before you arrive.

Welcoming You from the Start

After you check in at our front desk, our friendly team will make sure you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. Our bright, modern, and spotless clinic is designed to make your entire experience pleasant and comfortable.

What Happens During Your Appointment?

During your comprehensive new patient appointment, we will carry out an examination, take X-rays if needed, and complete a dental cleaning. A typical first appointment at our clinic lasts about 60 to 90 minutes because we schedule adequate time so you never feel rushed. You can expect a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, checking for cavities, gum disease, and other issues, sometimes using modern equipment such as digital iTero scanners for comfortable impressions. We offer sedation dentistry for patients with dental anxiety or those needing extensive dental work.

Getting to Know Our Dental Team

Our dental team will review your medical history and ask about any concerns you may have with your oral health during your visit. Open communication is encouraged, so feel free to ask us any questions about your oral health or the visit at any time. After your assessment and cleaning, we develop a personalized treatment plan and walk you through it at a pace you are comfortable with. We warmly welcome patients who haven’t seen a dentist in years, offering encouragement and support, never judgment.

Children’s First Appointments

For children, we recommend their first visit within six months of their first tooth erupting or by their first birthday. At a child's first visit, we perform a visual exam of their gums and teeth, assess their comfort, and may request X-rays if necessary, always keeping it short and positive. Sometimes with children, we delay a cleaning or further dental work to a later visit so that the first experience is a positive one. Parents can help by talking positively about the dentist, reading books or watching videos about dental visits, and avoiding negative words that might make kids anxious.

Extra Support and Welcoming Touches

Every new patient receives a free electric toothbrush with their exam and cleaning. We offer no-obligation consultations, complimentary custom mouthguards for children who play contact sports, flexible payment plans, and direct billing to most major dental insurance plans.

Availability and Emergency Care

Our office is open 7 days a week, and we provide same-day appointments for dental emergencies. The clinic offers general, family, cosmetic, restorative, orthodontic, periodontal, emergency, and children’s dentistry using modern equipment in a welcoming environment. If you have an emergency or urgent concern, we accept walk-in emergency patients and new patients and will aim to see you as soon as possible.
